Local Rides Listing.

These rides are local to Kent county in Delaware. Rides specifically supported by DDS&R are noted.

PDF cue sheets of various rides the webmaster has ridden are available. These were scanned from actual sheets that often went on actual rides hence quality may suffer from wear in my jersey pocket. These rides include many outside of Kent County - Webmaster.

Saturday Morning at the Greentree Shopping Center (year round)

This was formerly known as the Saturday Morning ride from Lifestyles.
The Lifestyles Fitness Center near the hospital is no more and we've moved the ride to the Greentree Shopping Center on Forrest Ave in Dover, DE.

Note: this is not a DDSR club ride.

This is a ride that has been going on for many years. It was started by Todd, Rick, Fred, and Michael when we were riding our LightSpeed® tricycles together. Now you can find anywhere from ten to twenty riders. It used to be held at the Lifestyles Fitness Center in Dover at the corner of Governors and South St. but it was torn down to put up a parking lot.

Now it's at the Greentree Shopping center on Forrest Ave (Route 8 in the west part of Dover).

Day Time
Saturday 9:00 AM

The ride starts at 9AM so be there sooner (about fifteen minutes) to get your bike and gear ready. You also take your chances if it's raining - not many like to start in the rain.

The particular loop is determined by wind direction. Rides vary from 20 to 60 miles (30 to 100k). This is usually between 16 to 20 mph (26 to 32kph) depending on wind strength. You will not be left behind. If you go off the front be aware the ride is often made up as we go so look back a lot or carry a map.

In the winter the pace is lower - 16 mph (26kph) and the distance is usually around forty miles (70 kilometers) which takes just less than two hours.

Often there are people who cut the ride a little shorter - you can go with them if you're tired or pressed for time.

Helmets are required and your bicycle must be in safe mechanical condition.

Sunday at Wyoming Park - Year Round

Note: this is not a DDSR club ride.

Day Time
Sunday 12:00 Noon

his is similar to the Saturday ride from the Greentree Shopping Center. Hopefully the pace is a bit slower and distance shorter since the stronger riders from Saturday may be a bit tired. Usually 10 to 12 people show up.

Note: Hammer heads have taken over the ride (from the Saturday ride - apparently they didn't get tired) so it's now down to about five people and the pace is at 22mph in the first couple of miles in to 15mph headwinds for 40 miles. There are probably fewer than 5 people riding it. Sorry.

The ride starts at noon so be there sooner (about fifteen minutes) to get your bike and gear ready. There may be no one there if it's too hot in the summer. You also take your chances if it's raining.

Wyoming is south of Dover. Turn on 3rd St. next to Hall's Diner on Rt. 15 through Wyoming. There's a small sign for Wyoming Park, but it's easy to miss. The parking lot is at the end of 3rd St.

Milford Cyclists

This is an an informal group that rides out of Milford, although most of their rides start at Lake Forest High School on Killens Pond Rd, Felton. They use the Yahoo groups to announce rides.
