Mountain Biking Information for Southern Delaware

(by Michael Lecuyer - June 2004)

The simple answer is that there is very little mountain biking in southern Delaware.

There are some trails at Tidbury Creek Park and some trails at Killens Pond State Park. I've ridden the latter but it's said the former is much better. A friend of mine crashed his bike into a ten foot deep hole at Tidbury so I'd say it's much more exciting than Killen's Pond. I think his experience was way above average in difficulty. Lots of locals like Tidbury. There is some flat trail riding to be had at the Blackiston Wildlife Area - these are primarily horse trails but they work for MB's.

Most of the action is up north at Fair Hill , Iron Hill, and Middle Run. I've ridden on & maintained some parts of Middle Run. This means 45 minutes to an hour's drive up to the parks. Fair Hill is fairly large and has good technical trails.

The northern club that maintains these trails is the Trailspinners which I've enjoyed working with.
