DDSR Train for a 5K Program
The Downstate Delaware Striders & Riders Train for a 5K program is a guided, community-based training series for walkers and runners who want to complete a 5K with confidence. Experienced DDSR members lead group sessions, share a training calendar, and help you build mileage at a safe, steady pace.
Our capstone event is the Great Wyoming Buffalo Stampede 5K in Camden, Delaware (check the race page for the current race date and registration).
What the program includes
- 12-week progressive training plan geared toward a 5K finish
- Group walks and runs with DDSR member mentors
- Printed or digital training calendar distributed at the kickoff meeting
- DDSR membership and race entry bundled in the program fee when offered
Typical schedule (example)
Past programs have started in early April and wrapped in late June, with a kickoff meeting (often at Grotto’s in Camden) to meet coaches and pick up your calendar. Dates change each year—watch Events and our email list for the next session.
